WLP009 MARIO MOLINO - GLI ANGELI DEL 2000
Wow! We are very happy to bring back to light this fantastic soundtrack
by one of the most underrated Italian musicians. It is well known the rich
musical heritage that the Italian film industry has left us, and all those
who enjoy the likes of Ennio Morricone, Alessandro Alessandroni, Piero Piccioni,
Piero Umiliani, Riz Ortolani, Armando Trovajoli et al. will welcome Gli
Angeli del 2000 to their collections. If you are into soundtracks or library
music you probably already think that even if not as prolific as some of
the aforementioned classics, Mario Molino's name deserves to be also on
the list since he was behind a number of albums that contain little gems
such as 'Operazione Beat', 'I sogni del mare', 'Lamento Beat' or 'Bossa
Jaguar' and also thanks to his guitar playing in works by other masters
like Marcelo Giombini or even Mikis Theodorakis.
Gli Angeli del 2000 is a 1969 flick directed by Honil Ranieri that has
all the drug, sex and counter culture ingredients of the era but which
had very small distribution when first released - it was probably better
distributed its photonovel version rather than the film itself! Bits of
its soundtrack, though, have surfaced on different compilations in the
past years, especially the famous 'Psyché Rock' rip-off title track
that you can listen to here :
And check also other dynamite tracks from this soundtrack :
We have had access to the original tapes containing the complete sessions,
including the tracks that built the 1969 soundtrack LP on CAM, plus six
bonus tracks—five alternate takes from the same sessions plus an experimental
electronic curiosity. The music is amazing. Top class Italian sounds for
psych beat club dancers, cocktail easy goers and experimental groovers featuring
the fabulous vocal talents of Edda dell'Orso—famous for her work in Alessandro
Alessandroni's Cantori Moderni or in many Morricone soundtracks ('Meti una
sera a cena' or 'C'erà una volta il west', for instance!)— and also
featuring violinist, pianist, singer Nora Orlandi—herself also a composer
of many soundtracks from the sixties and the seventies, here providing the
backing vocals with her own famous I 2+2 di Nora Orlandi group.
A top class reissue, mastered from the original tapes with bonus alternate
tracks added in a limited edition of only 500 copies that will sell like
hot bread—order now before they are gone!

WLP003 THE DUKE OF BURLINGTON 'Flash'

The perfect soundtrack for any successful groovy party, with fantastic
instrumental tracks, featuring great covers of El Chicano’s "Viva Tirado",
The Jackson 5 "I Want You Back" or Dick Hyman's "The Minotaur". A must
for dancing and sampling, comes in a beautiful & colourful dust jacket.
WLP004 BELTRAN MONER 'Fórmula 1'
Top class 1973 Spanish library album featuring sounds originally
used for the Spanish TV Sports Special "Fórmula 1". Beltrán
Moner creates electronic athmospheres strongly reminiscent of those
on Peter Thomas’ "Chariots of the Gods". This is a must for fans of the
electronic music, to be filed among the masters of the genre like Pierre
Henry or Cecil Leuter. Anyone with a sampler and the right dose of good
taste is also advised not to miss one of the 1.000 only copies of this jewel!
WLP005 JIM MESSINA & HIS JESTERS'The Dragsters!'
Wow! Heres a forgotten piece of instro surf a go go! It is definetely
one of the best instro surf LP ever, and Wah Wah is reissuing it on its
original heavy cardboard sleeve and remastered sound. The band includes
Jim Messina on lead guitar, Glenn Frey, Bill Beckman, and Ron House on
dual rhythm guitars, Jim Sholstedt on bass, Dave Archuleta on sax, and Larry
Cundieff on drums. Messina would go on to enjoy a successful career both
as a producer and musician. His work involved producing albums for music
legends such as the Doors, Lee Michaels, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass
— and, in the mid-'60s, Buffalo Springfield. Messina produced Buffalo Springfield's
second album, Buffalo Springfield Again, and joined the group as its bass
player. He would later form Poco and record some albums with Kenny Loggins
as Loggins and Messina, but probably he never recorded such a piece of
excitement as "The Dragsters!", a true instro surf classic on its own originally
issued in 1964. Highly recommended!
WLP006 THE BIGROUP
Powerful exploitation library lp by this UK bunch of studio musicians,
originally released by Peer in 1971 and licensed to Olimpo in Spain (bet
you've seen any of those two pressings on eBay). Already very much in
demand between library music fans and progressive rock colllectors and
no wonder why. One of the strongest albums in it’s field, choked with goodies:
great psych organ mayhem on "Big Hammer", burning acid leads on "Burnilation",
sitar action on "Annapurna" plus the ill drum-break of "What’s Coming?"
or the dope, stoned , beat-heavy "Devil’s Stronghold" & "Heavy Lift"...
Thight bass and great beats all over !!!
Comes in a fashionable round cover (same style as in our Beltran
Moner lp). Limited to 500.
