After the success of the previous Wah Wah reissue of Anima Sound's
"Stürmischer Himmel" we are proud to offer a first ever vinyl reissue
of their "Musik Für Alle" album, one of the rarest private pressings
in the krautrock scene.
In 1971 Paul and Limpe Fuchs loaded their instruments on an old tractor
and spent six months touring through Germany at 20 km/h. When the summer
came, they stopped in front of Willy Neubauer's recording studio in Düsseldorf
and there they taped a music memory of the tour. Two long pieces, 17 minute
long improvisations titled 'n da da uum da' and 'traktor go go go', were
to be privately released as an LP on their own Altepfarhof label. By some,
these two tracks "can surely be considered as one of the best psychedelic
experiences ever created, due to the intensity of the recording." On their
performance the group produced many wonderful and inspired sounds, many
of them coming from Paul Fuch's self-built instruments, and counted with
the post-production collaboration of Neubauer's Echolette Ringmodulater
The Wah Wah reissue has been properly licensed from Limpe Fuchs herself,
reproduces the original cover art and features an insert with liner notes,
and we must thank for the mastering www.algamarghen.com (who released
the CD version of the album).

del "Stürmischer Himmel" de Anima Sound nos enorgullece presentar
la primera reedición en formato LP de su álbum "Musik Für
Alle", uno de los prensajes privados más raros de la escena Krautrock.
En 1971 Paul y Limpe Fuchs cargaron sus instrumentos en un viejo tractor
y se dispusieron a pasarse seis meses de gira por Alemania a la velocidad
de 20 km/h. Cuando llegó el verano detuvieron su tractor frente
al estudio de grabación de Willy Neubauer en Düsseldorf y allí
grabaron una memoria musical del tour. Dos largas piezas, improvisaciones
de 17 minutos tituladas 'n da da uum da' y 'traktor go go go', se editarían
como LP en su propio sello Altepfarhof. Se dice que estos dos temas "pueden
sin duda considerarse una de las mejores experiencias musicales jamás
creadas, debido a la intensidad de la grabación". En su interpretación
el dúo produjo sonidos maravillosos e imaginativos, muchos de ellos
procedentes de los instrumentos construídos por el propio Paul
Fuchs, y contó con la colaboración en la post-productión
del Echolette Ringmodulater de Neubauer.
La edición de Wah Wah, licenciada directamente de la propia
Limpe Fuchs, reproduce la portada original e incluye un inserto con información.

LARD FREE - GILBERT ARTMAN'S LARD FREE
The first album by Lard Free, simply titled Gilbert Artman's Lard Free,
is released in 1973 on the Vamp label. It has been recorded and mixed in
April that year, the recording session taking place for only 36 hours in
a London studio. But that's ebough time for the band to showcase the adventurous
spirit of Gilbert & Co. There's drums and sax of jazzy, repetitive inspiration,
free-rock guitar licks and an always present AKS synthesizer that produce
one of the essential works of Europe's musical avant-garde on its time.
After this brilliant recorded legacy, Lard Free split in 1978, with
Artman dedicating his time to his more "successful" project Urban Sax.
Featuring : Gilbert Artman (drums, piano steinway, vibes), Herve Eyhani
(bass guitar, arp synthetizer), Philippe Bolliet (all saxes), Francois Mativet
(guitars).

Tiempo suficiente para plasmar el espíritu aventurero de Gilbert

I'M AROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT
Lard Free's second LP, I'm Around About Midnight, was recorded in Paris
in a three day session and released in 1975 also on Vamp. There is a totally
different line-up from that of the first LP and it features long time
friend Richard Pinhas, with whom Artman explores (in his own way) some
sound passages of strong Heldon inspiration, although in a less immediate
register, building an organic layered sound that emanates a certain shadowy
formal beauty. The strong Artman-Pinhas connection is also confirmed by
the inclusion on Heldon's Third of the track "Pale violence under a reverbere",
on a different mix and different title, "Méchamment rock."

El segundo disco de Lard Free, I’m Around About Midnight, grabado durante
tres días en París, se edita en 1975 - también en
Vamp. Con una formación completamente distinta, en la que destaca
la incorporación de Richard Pinhas, Artman se adentra (eso sí,
a su manera) precisamente en paisajes sonoros inspirados por Heldon, aunque
en un registro no tan urgente, y logra edificar un magnífico entramado
orgánico no exento de cierta sombría belleza formal. Confirmando
la estrecha conexión Artman-Pinhas, la pieza “Pale violence under
a reverbere” aparece con otra mezcla y distinto nombre, “Méchamment
rock”, en el elepé Third de Heldon.

The third and last Lard Free LP is released in 1977 on the Cobra label
simply titled "Lard Free", recorded in two different studios between January
and March that same year. Besides some new musicians, another step forward
in Artman's constant evolution is the use of the recording studio as an
additional instrument that offers a whole lot of possibilities to creative
expansion. The results are amazing : under an apparently lineal structure
there's thousands of sound brushtrokes that feed themselves back to create
a strange and provocative post-industrial picture.

En 1977 llega el tercer y último álbum de Lard Free,
de escueto y homónimo título, grabado en dos estudios diferentes
entre enero y marzo de ese mismo año y publicado por el sello Cobra.
En esta ocasión, a los nuevos músicos de rigor Artman añade
el instrumento principal de su nueva obra, el estudio de grabación,
con todas sus posibilidades de explotación creativa. El resultado
es fascinante: bajo una estructura de apariencia lineal asoman infinitas
pinceladas sonoras que se retroalimentan hasta configurar un extraño
y evocador cuadro postindustrial.

Another lost gem of French underground music, Delired Cameleon Family
was originally conceived as the soundtrack to Pierre Clémenti's "Visa
de censure nº X", and was originally released as an LP in 1975.
It was a host of reputed experimentalists who took charge of producing
this soundtrack. Under the direction of Cyrille Verdeaux we found the
likes of Yvan Coaquette (Música Electrónica Viva, Spacecraft...),
Gilbert Artman (Lard Free, Urban Sax...), Christian Boulé, Tim
Blake (Gong, solo recordings...), Ariel Kalma (Heldon, solo recordings),
Jean-Claude d'Agostini, François Jeanneau, Jean Padovani, Olivier
Pamela, Joël Dugrenot, Antoine Duvernet, Aude Cornillac and Valérie
Lagrange.
Cyrille Verdeaux was, of course, the main force behind the better known
French band Clear Light. Verdeaux was born the 31st of July of 1949 in Paris.
At the age of 15 he became a student at the French National Conservatory
of Music, specialising in studies of harmony, composition and piano. He won
three times the first prize in student composition. After the 1968 student
riots he left the Conservatory to join a band as a keyboardist. In 1972
he released "Clearlight Symphony", thus forming the band Clear Light to
tour through Europe perfroming his symphony. Clear Light would release three
more LPs through the 70's, and also the soundtrack to "Visa de censure".
The music form Delired Cameleon Family, as it has been told somewhere,
"is the synthesis of piano's technical, epic scales, psychedelic wah wah
guitar sounds and electronic «cosmic», molecular machines
arrangements."
ABOUT PIERRE CLÉMENTI
Clémenti, probably most known for his roll on Buñuel's
"Belle de jour" and his acting on films by Passolini, Rocha or Bertolucci
among others, made some very interesting films, his work has been compared
to that of Kenneth Anger, and some trippy fragments of his movies can be

Family fue originalmente concebido como la banda sonora del filme de Pierre

Un grupo de reputados experimentalistas fueron los encargados de proporcionar
la banda sonora a "Visa de censure". Bajo la dirección de Cyrille

maquinas electrónicas moleculares".
SOBRE PIERRE CLÉMENTI
Clémenti, probablemente más conocido por su papel en
"Belle de jour" de Buñuel o su trabajo como actor en filmes de
Passolini, Rocha o Bertolucci, entre otros, realizó algunos filmes
experimentales muy interesantes, sus trabajos han sido comparados a veces
con los de Kenneth Anger, y algunos fragmentos de ellos se pueden ver

THE KÜHN BROTHERS & THE MAD ROCKERS
Experienced jazz avantgardists Joachim and Rolf Kühn joined forces
with Volker Kriegel, Gunter Lenz and Stu Martin to release this superb mixture
of krautrock, psych, funk and free jazz. With all kind of sound effects
coming from distorted clarinets, Hammond organ, groovy bass/drums section,
breaks and hot guitar licks The Mad Rockers paved the way for many krautrockers
to follow. Reissued in vinyl for the first time since its 1969 debut on
the Metronome label, this is a basic record to showcase the rich mixture
of different styles that would make the 70's German music scene so unique
and appealing.
The Kühn Brothers, Rolf and Joachim, were at first reluctant to
the reissue of this amazing LP. They are highly trained musicians with
a huge experience and a big sense of innovation and they felt they have
many works which are much better than this one, which undoubtedly they
do have since they started being really young and are still at it nowadays,
but here at Wah Wah we do feel The Mad Rockers album is a landmark in krautrock
story, since it anticipates the path that would be travelled by so many
legendary krautsters of the seventies. Everything is there, the adventurous
mixture of styles so diverse as psychedelic rock, jazz, funk... You name
it, you find it. Plenty of excelent breaks, experimental in the quest for
new sounds, with instruments run through distortion effects, the musicians
involved are all key figures in the development of modern European of its
era. You have Volker Kriegel, who besides his own solo recordings shall
also be remembered for his great contributions to Dave Pike Set's classic
albums or his work with Klaus Doldinger. There is Stu Martin, drummer also
on other interesting projects like The Free Pop Experimental Concept also
reissued on Wah Wah. Plus Günter Lenz on bass, jazz master who has
worked among others with names like Krzysztof Komeda, Lighting Hopkins,
Chet Baker, Coleman Hawkins or Olivier Nelson, and he has even done orchestral
arrangements for Plácido Domingo!
Jazz meets Funk and Psych, absolutely amazing groovy lp! With 2 songs
compiled on Andy Votel's Music To Watch Girks By and The Big Deal, the rest
of the LP is equally good!
Experimentados vanguardistas del jazz, Joachim y Rolf Kühn unieron
fuerzas con Volker Kriegel, Gunter Lenz y Stu Martin para editar esta fantástica
mezcla de krautrock, psicodélia, funk y free jazz. Con todo tipo
de efectos sónicos saliendo de clarinetes distorsionados, órgano
Hammond, sección de bajo y batería de lo más groovy,
breaks y brillantes riffs de guitarra, los Mad Rockers pavimentaron el
camino que muchos krautrockers habrían de seguir. Reeditado en vinilo
por primera vez desde su primera edición en Metronome, este es un
disco básico como muestra de la mezcla de diferentes estilos que
harían la escena musical alemana tan especial y atractiva.
Los hermanos Kühn, Rolf y Joachim, mostraron al principio cierta
reticencia a reeditar este disco. Siendo músicos académicos
del mayor nivel y con amplia experiencia y sentido de innovación en
su opinión tienen material más interesante que merece ser
reeditado antes que esto, y sin duda será así ya que empezaron
muy jóvenes y se han mantenido en activo desde entonces, pero en Wah
Wah pensamos que el disco de The Mad Rockers es una obra clave en la historia
del krautrock, ya que anticipa el camino por el que transitarian tantas
leyendas posterioores del krautrock de los setenta. Lo tiene todo: la aventurada
mezcla de estilos tan diversos característica del krautrock, breaks
excelentes, experimentación en la búsqueda de sonidos con
instrumentos filtrados por diversos efectos de distorsión y unos músicos
que son todos figuras claves en la música europea de los setenta.
Tenemos a Volker Kriegel, quien a parte de sus aclamadas grabaciones en solitario
será también recordado por sus colaboraciones en los clásicos
LPs de Dave Pike Set o sus trabajos con Klaus Doldinger. Está también
Stu Martin, batería en otros proyectos interesantes como The Free
Pop Experimental Concept, también reeditado en Wah Wah. Y también
Gunter Lenz al bajp, maestro del jazz que ha tyrabajado entre otros con
Krzysztof Komeda, Lighting Hopkins, Chet Baker, Coleman Hawkins o Olivier

When the bunch of filmakers known as The Pattern Group (Roland Moreau,
Georges Perdriaud and Jean Talansier) did 'Libra', their second movie,
in 1973 they just thought a good idea to use bits from Pink Floyd's 'Ummagumma'
and 'Atom Heart Mother' to create its soundtrack. The movie, a 90 minutes
film with no dialogue, depicts the story of four youngsters living in
communion with nature, an idyllic life that is drastically changed when
a a US satellite crashes in the area and attracts the attention of journalists
and TV crews that come to destroy the peace of the place.
Obviously, the Pink Floyd bits had been used without permission,
and The Pattern Group saw they needed an original sountrack if they wanted
the film released without legal trouble. They approached Jean-Michel Jarre
who declined the invitation to create the new soundtrack, but suggested
instead that it was Philippe Besombes who did it. Besombes was a sound
explorer who walked similar paths as other avantgardist young musicians
from his generation such as Richard Pinhas (Heldon), Paul Putti (Pôle),
Jean Louis Rizet or Jean-Michel Jarre himself (way before he became the
famed wizard of commercial synth music we know today).
Besombes was requested to produce a soundtrack "in the style" of
those Pink Floyd tracks used. However he came up with that and more.
Always aiming to find new ways of musical expression, he produced music
that fitted perfectly in what the filmakers needed but which was totally
of his own. Surrounded by a cast of friends he locked himself in the basement
of his girlfrend's father (who even ended up providing the finnancial
funds for the project to reach an end!) and taped the amazing sounds that
conform the 'Libra' soundtrack, a landmark in french electronic tripping
music which gives us synthesizer and even sitar sounds as good as what
you can hear in more commercially successful LPs like Pink Floyd's 'Ummagumma'
or 'Obscured By Clouds'. Besombes would later form in 1977 the space
rock group Hydravion, and is also known as the producer of several other
Pôle/Tapioca releases such as Melody or Henri Roger.
The soundtrack was recorded in 1974, and it was released a a vinyl
LP on the Pôle label in 1975. It has since then become a highly
sought after LP among collectors of electronic music worldwide, and gets
its first vinyl reissue on Wah Wah in a deluxe edition that features a
lavish 12" sized six page booklet with plenty of photographies from the
era and information on the making off of Libra in texts written by Philippe
Besombes himself and Raul G. Pratginestós. 500 copies limited edition.

Cuando el colectivo de directores de cine conocido como The Pattern
Group (Roland Moreau, Georges Perdriaud and Jean Talansier) realizó
'Libra', su segundo filme, en 1973 utilizó como banda sonora de
la cinta piezas de los LPs 'Ummagumma' y 'Atom Heart Mother' de Pink Floyd.
El film, de 90 minutos de duración y sin diálogo, narra la
historia de cuatro jóvenes viviendo en comunión con la naturaleza
en un paraje idílico cuya vida cambia cuando un satélite estadounidense
se estrella en la zona, hecho que atrae a periodistas y equipos de televisión
que destruyen la paz del lugar.
Puesto que no se habían pedido los permisos necesarios para
el uso del material de Pink Floyd, el grupo Pattern vió la necesidad
de producir una banda sonora original para el estreno de la película.
Con ese encargo contactaron con Jean-Muchele Jarre, quien declinó
hacerse cargo del trabajo pero aconsejó a los productores que contactaran
con Philippe Besombes, un aventurero del sonido que transitaba caminos
paralelos a los de sus contemporáneos Richard Pinhas (Heldon),
Paul Putti (Pôle), Jean Louis Rizet o el propio Jean-Michel Jarre
(tiempo antes de que alcanzara la fama con su musica de sintetizador más
comercial). En 1977 Besombes formaría el legendario grupo de space
rock Hydravion, y es también conocido por su labor grabando y mezclando
a otros artistas del sello Pôle/Tapioca como Melody o Henri Roger.
A Besombes se le pidió hacer algo en la línea del material
de Pink Floyd utilizado, aunque él hizo más que eso. Siempre
a la búsqueda de nuevos medios de expresión musical, produjo
una banda sonora que encajaba perfectamente con lo que necesitaba la
película, pero siendo un trabajo totalmente personal. Rodeado
de un grupo de amigos se encerró en el sótano de la casa
del padre de su novia (quien también acabaría proporcionando
los fondos económicos necesarios para la finalización del
proyecto) y grabó la banda sonora de 'Libra', un hito en la electrónica
francesa con algunos interesantes pasajes de sitar. Un disco que poco tiene
a envidiar a material comercialmente más excitoso de la época,
como puedan ser sin ir más lejos los míticos 'Ummagumma' o

en edición de lujo con un libreto de 6 páginas tamaño
12 pulgadas con fotografías y notas escritas por el propio Besombes
y por Raül G. Pratginestós. Edición limitada de 500

There are records that come from the soul. No matter how primitive
may be the recording techniques the musician has access to, the soul
gets its way to the heart and mind of the listener. “Samtvogel” is one
of those records. Günter Schickert recorded that amazing piece of
human greatness in 1974, using the media he had at the time, putting his
brain at work to find the best way of taping everything he had to say.
“When I was recording “Samtvogel” in 1974 I had only 2 Taperecorders.
I played one track and while listening I added the second one. And so on.
Four times. When I mixed all together I borrowed a 3rd taperecorder. And
still added the last track to the master. I had a small mixer with 2 stereo
and 1 mono but it was possible to pan tracks. No equalization. It all came
out of my still living G2000 Dynacord guitar amplifier, of course valve,
with no master, even the voice recorded through it. If I made a mistake
in 1 track I had to repeat it from the beginning. And if while mixing I
was not fast enough in changing the tape I had to start again. So it took
me more than 3 months to get ready.”
Thanks to these three months of work, between June and September
of 1974, ‘Samtvogel’ was privately issued that same year. It would later
be issued on the Brain label, with a small change in the artwork –titles
added to the front cover, which weren’t on the original private pressing.
Brain also reissued it on the label’s “Rock On Brain” LP series, this time
with a completely different sleeve. The album contained two tracks on side
one and just one on side two, and its sound has often been compared to the
most explorative works of Syd Barret – however it must be pointed that Schickert
did not need any mind spreading substances to allow his sounds float out
of his mind & soul, they just came out in the most natural way. It
will also appeal fans of the echoed athmosferic guitar work of other kraut
innovators such as Ash Ra Tempel, Manuel Götsching or A.R. & The
Machines, and some may find on the vocal passages certain resemblances
to Damo Suzuki on Can's 'Tago-Mago' era.
The Wah Wah reissue is limited to 500 vinyl LP copies only, housed
in a quality sleeve that reproduces that of the original 1974 private
pressing and featuring a 4 page insert with liners and photos,sound remastered

Hay discos que salen del alma. Sin importar cuan primitivas puedan
ser las técnicas de grabación de las que el músico
pueda disponer, el alma encuentra el camino hacia el corazón y
la mente del oyente. 'Samtvogel' es uno de esos discos. Günter Schickert
grabó esta maravilla en 1974, usando los medios que tenía
a su alcance entonces, poniéndo su cerébro a trabajar para
encontrar la mejor manera de registrar todo lo que tenía por decir.
"Para grabar 'Samtvogel', en 1974, contaba únicamente con dos magnetófonos.
Una vez grabada una pista grababa la segunda mientras ésta se reproducía,
así hasta 4 veces. Para la mezcla pedí prestado otro magnetófono,
y al hacer el máster final aún añadí más
cosas. Todo salía de my amplificador Dynacord G2000, de válvulas,
evidentemente, sin master... Incluso la voz la pasé a través
de él. Si me equivocaba en una pista debía repetir el proceso
de nuevo. Y si al mezclar no cambiaba de cinta a la suficiente velocidad,
tenía que empezar la mezcla de nuevo. Me llevó tres meses
acabar todo el proceso."
Gracias a estos tres meses de trabajo durante el verano de 1974 ese
mimo año salío a la luz 'Samtvogel', en una edición
privada pagada por el propio artista. Más tarde sería reeditado
en el sello Brain, primero con un pequeño cambio en el artwork -se
añadió el título a la portada, que originalmente no
lo llevaba- y luego con una portada totalmente distinta dentro de sus series
'Rock On Brain'. El LP contiene 2 temas en la cara A y solo uno en la B,
y su sonido ha sido a menudo comparado con el del Syd Barrett más experimental
- aunque hay que decir que Schickert no necesitó de ningún tipo
de droga para dejar fluir su creatividad, simplemente le salió así,
de modo natural. Sin duda un disco interesante para fans del sonido de las
guitarras atmosféricas cargadas de eco de otros innovadores del rock
alemán como Ash Ra Tempel, Manuel Götsching o A.R & The Machines,
y en las partes vocales algunos verán similitudes al Damo Suzuki de
los Can de la época ¡Tago-Mago'.
La reedición de Wah Wah es de únicamente 500 copias,
en portada de calidad reproduciendo la de la edición privada original,

After our acclaimed reissues of the first two LPs by French electronic
rock pioneers Heldon, we are proud to offer a lavish vinyl version of
their third album (also known as 'It's Always Rock'n'Roll'), where Pinhas
and Co. follow the same paths he created with 'Electronique Guérila'
under the strong influence of works by Robert Fripp and Brian Eno, and
of course the contemporanean krautrock movement. For those of you following
our line of releases there will be no need to say that composer, guitarist
& electronics innovator Richard Pinhas is recognized as one of France's
major experimental musicians and is a pivotal figure in the development
of electronic rock.
This third delivery of Heldon's works was first released on Disjuncta
in 1975 as a double LP and features Richard Pinhas (ARP & VCS3 Synthesizers,
guitars, bass, Mellotron) and George Grunblatt (Mellotron, guitars) plus
contributions from some other greats of the genre like Patrick Gauthier
(ARP synthesizers), Gilbert Artman (of Lard Free fame on drums), Jean My
Truong (also on drums) and Ariel Kalma (Indian Harmonium).
The double LP set came housed in a beautiful 7-ink gatefold sleeve
that we will faithfully reproduce in full glory (that is, including the
two extra gold & silver inks print). Four page insert with notes by
Paco Peiró relating the story of Pinhas early years is included.

As K.J. Gustin wrote, 'Piece Of Mind' is a work of "exotic psychedelic
free-jazz-meets-rock, East-meets-West, progressive and smoky moment in
late Twentieth Century music history". Add to that a spice of jazzy brassed
R&B and a touch of minor-key popsike sensitivity and you get an accurate
description of the sounds contained in Roger Bunn's astonishing 1969 LP,
originally released in the UK on the Major Minor budget label, but issued
in some European countries (Ohr label in Germany or Phillips in Holland)
in a beautiful gatefold cover that is the one we choose for our reissue.
When the LP was released in 1969, Roger Bunn was already a veteran British
musician that had gained an astonishing CV since he began playing in the
professional circuit. He spent the sixties moving through several
outfits playing skiffle, jazz, beat, R&B, soul... whatever. As The Beatles
did, he spent some of his forming time in Germany, playing with British
formations there. A versatile musician on several instruments, he became
a master of double bass. After the 'Piece Of Mind' days he joined Pete Brown's
Piblotko!, played with members of Soft Machine, worked with Ornette Coleman,
saw one of his songs recorded (though never officially released) by a major
rock star like David Bowie and even became a founding member of Roxy Music
for a short period in 1970-1971, among so many other things.
An album that should be an essential addition to any collection that
misses it, reissued in full colour gatefold sleeve, quality vinyl pressing
and an insert with liner notes, with sound remastered by Denis Blackham

una buena descripción de los sonidos que contiene el sorprendente
LP de 1969 de Roger Bunn, editado originalmente en el Reino Unido en el

Alemania, Phillips en Holanda) en una preciosa portada 'gatefold', que
es la que hemos utilizado para nuestra reedición.
Cuando el disco fue editado en 1969, Roger Bunn era ya un veterano

Unearthing another hidden gem from the Saga catalogue. Katch 22 were
a bunch of young boys that produced the UK answer to the US Soft-Rock
scene. It is ironic that a UK band can be so influenced by those US bands
that were most highly under the influence of British popsike! Think of
Harper's Bizarre, The Association, The Milenium or Eternity's Children
even higher on tea! A surprisingly good production for a Saga pop/psych
LP, the album is built up of excellent cover versions of some greats of
the genre, paying tribute to the likes of The Left Banke ('Walk Away Reneé'),
Simon & Garfunkel / Harper's Bizarre ('Feelin' Groovy') or even Buffalo
Springfield ('Go And Say Goodbye') and also of some good originals in the
same vein. It is certainly an underated period piece that deserves a wider
recognition, a great sounding album of orchestrated (and non orchestrated)
pop sounds.
The album was originally issued on Saga / Eros subsidiary in 1968,
and the Wah Wah reissue respects the colourful sleeve and reprints the
original insert, with sound remastered from the original tapes by Denis
Blackham at Skye Mastering. Offered in a limited 500 copies only edition!
Desenterramos otra joya oculta del catálogo de Saga. Katch
22 eran un grupo de jóvenes que ofrecieron la respuesta inglesa
al movimiento soft-rock estadounidense. Irónicamente, tenemos aquí
a una banda inglesa cuyo sonido se basa en el de aquellas bandas americanas
que más se dejaron influenciar por el posike británico. ¡Pensad
en unos Harper's Bizarre, Association, Millenium o Eternity's Children
aún más colocados de té! Sorprende la calidad de
la producción, tratándose de un LP de pop/psych en Saga,
y nos presenta excelentes versiones de algunos de los clásicos
del genero, incluyendo 'Walk Away Renée' (The Left Banke), 'Feelin'
Groovy' (Simon & Garfunkel / Harper's Bizarre) o incluso de 'Go And
Say Goodbye' (Buffalo Springfield) mezcladas con un par de muy buenas

Om -led by superb catalan guitarist Jordi ‘Toti’ Soler after
his previous band Pic-Nic split- were one of the most interesting outfits
to ever come out from Barcelona. Starting in 1968, their first recordings
were done as a backing group for other artists like folk-singer Maria
del Mar Bonet or american hippie Joe Skladzien, but most notably Pau
Riba whom they backed on his debut LP the legendary Dioptria, one of
the finest pieces of european psych ever. During all their early work,
the band benefited from the organ playing of one of the most talented
catalan pianists, Jordi Sabatés (of Ocells del més enllà
fame) as well as the musical talents of two english brothers: drummer
Peter Hodgkinson and his brother Tim on sax and keys (this is, of course,
the same Tim Hodgkinson who founded Henry Cow, together with Fred Frith).
By the time they released their LP on Edigsa in 1971, Om was
already an experienced band, with important studio work on their back
and countless gigs, having backed american blues-man Taj Mahal in his
Madrid 1969 concerts. One particularity of Om was that, rather than having
an established line-up, they worked as a musical concept where it was
not so important the individuals playing as it was the resulting sound.
Their only LP shows how, through the works of Miles Davies, Gary Burton
and John McLaughlin, they had developed their sound from its original
psych/folk-rock beginnings to an intensely psychedelic jazz rock fussion.
A classic album that is hardly known outside Spain and ranks amongst
the best of the era, sharing shoulders with similar underground european
experiments by Min Bul, Colhemec Ensemble, Xhol, Dharma Quintet, Sunbirds,
Full Moon Ensemble or the more progressive output of the british jazz of
the era: John Surman’s Trio, Nucleus or Michael Gibbs.

más interesantes de cuantos se han formado en Barcelona. Empezaron
a funcionar en 1968, y en sus primeras grabaciones actuaron como banda
de acompañamiento de artistas como la cantante Maria del Mar Bonet
o el motorista/cantante hippie americano Joe Skladzien, y se les recuerda
sobretodo por su fenomenal trabajo en el legendario Dioptria de Pau Riba,
uno de los momentos cumbre de la psicodélia europea. En sus inicios,
la banda contó con la participación al órgano Hammond
de uno de los pianistas catalanes de mayor talento, Jordi Sabatés,
y con los hermanos Peter (batería) y Tim (saxo y teclados) Hodgkinson.
Tim Hodgkinson regresó luego a su Inglaterra natal dónde
junto a Fred Firth fundaron el hoy mítico conjunto Henry Cow.
Para cuando Om editó su primer LP en Edigsa, en 1971,
ya eran una banda con una amplia experiencia, con trabajos de estudio
importantes a sus espaldas y un gran número de actuaciones en
directo, habiendo acompañado al blues-man americano Taj Mahal
en sus conciertos en Madrid en 1969. Una de las características
de Om fue que, más que trabajar con una formación de músicos
estable, se priorizó un concepto musical en el que lo importante
era el sonido resultante por encima de los músicos que en un momento
u otro formaban parte del conjunto. El único LP editado como
Om muestra como, a través de las influencias de Miles Davis,
Gary Burton o John McLaughlin, su sonido evolucionó de sus orígenes
arraigados en la psidocélia y el folk-rock a una intensamente
psicodélica fusión jazz rock. Un LP clásico, poco
conocido fuera de nuestras fronteras, pero que no va a la zaga de experimentos
similares del underground europeo como puedan ser Min Bul, Colhemec Ensemble,
Xhol, Dharma Quintet, Sunbirds, Full Moon Ensemble o el sector más

At the dawn of the seventies Barcelona’s underground scene
veered towards a jazz oriented fussion sound with echoes of Gary Burton,
Miles Davis and John McLaughlin. Two bands were at the forefront of
this movement : Om and Jarka. The later being the brainchild of Jordi
Sabatés, one of the most talented pianists/keyboardists in the
catalan scene. A generation younger than the great late Tete Montoliu,
with whom he also recorded, he found fame on the teenage pop charts of
the late sixties with the outfit Pic-Nic, where he joined forces with Toti
Soler and Doro Montaberry. After the split of Pic-Nic, he collaborated Hammond
organ in Om, when the band was acting as a backing group on the recordings
of the top catalan artists, most notably Pau Riba whom they backed in
his masterpiece debut LP Dioptria. In 1971, Sabatés started his
own band, together with bassist Alfonso de Lucas and drummer Pedro Van
Eeckout (ex Pan Y Regaliz). This was the line-up that went to record their
debut lp, Ortodòxia, on the famed Estudis Gema in March 1971. Housed
in a wonderful black & white sleeve courtesy of Guillem Paris (leading
force behind Pan Y Regaliz), the record was a solid slice of psychedelic
jazz-rock and featured contributions from some of the best musicians from
the Barcelona scene: Toti Soler, J. Albert Amargós, Doro Montaberry
and Ricard Sabatés. Hardly known outside Spain, this is classic
album that ranks amongst the best from the European underground of early
1970’s.
Jordi Sabatés has been one of the most prolific artists
from Catalunya and his solo carrer after Jarka has gained him a wide
reputation amongst collectors, mainly thanks to his 1975 LP Ocells del
més enllà, but also to his other great albums of the era.
The sound roots of what he became later are clearly heard in Jarka.

A principios de los setenta la bulliciosa escena "underground"
de Barcelona se lanzó hacia los sonidos de fusión jazz
rock con gran influencia de Gary Burton, Miles Davis y John McLaughlin.
Dos fueron las bandas pioneras del nuevo movimiento : Om y Jarka. Estos
últimos habían sido creados por Jordi Sabatés,
uno de los pianistas de mayor talento de nuestro país. Nacido una
generación posterior a la del gran y añorado Tete Montoliu,
con quien también grabó discos, Sabatés había
alcanzado el éxito juvenil con el conjunto Pic-Nic, en cuyas filas
formó junto a Toti Soler y Doro Montaberry. Tras la disolución
de Pic-Nic aportó su órgano Hammond a las grabaciones de
Om como banda de acompañamiento de diversos artistas, siendo su trabajo
más emblemático la grabación del Dioptria de Pau Riba.
En 1971 Sabatés formó Jarka junto al bajista Alfonso de Lucas
y el batería Pedro Van Eeckout (ex Pan Y Regaliz). Con esta formación
se grabó y editó ese mismo año el primer LP Ortodòxia,
enfundado en una preciosa portada en blanco y negro obra de Guillem Paris
(líder de Pan & Regaliz). El disco es una maravilla del jazz
rock psicodélico y cuenta con la colaboración de algunos
de los mejores músicos de la escena barcelonesa : Toti Soler, J.
Albert Amargós, Doro Montaberry y Ricard Sabatés.
Jordi Sabatés ha sido uno de los artistas más
prolíficos de la escena musical catalana, y su carrera en solitario
después de Jarka le ha reportado una gran reputación
entre coleccionistas, sobretodo gracias a su LP de 1975 Ocells del

Originally released by Edigsa in 1972, the sophomore album
by this great outfit led by Jordi Sabatés (Ocells del més
enllà) took their jazz rock fussion sound one step further,
diving deeper into the realms of seventies intrumental jazz. Recorded
in the Gema and Odeon studios during spring 1972, featured a new Jarka
line up: Sabatés himself on keys, Alfonso De Lucas on (bass) plus
guitarist Daniel Somoza and drummer Tom Furgal, both from New York, where
thay had played with Chick Corea, Michael Gibbs a.o.

Jordi Sabatés has been one of the most prolific artists
from Catalunya and his solo carrer after Jarka has gained him a wide
reputation amongst collectors and music lovers, mainly because of his
1975 LP Ocells del més enllà, but also to his other great
albums of the era. The sound roots of what he became later are clearly heard
in Jarka.

1972 contó con una nueva formación de Jarka : el propio

Key duo from the catalan folk rock scene, joint venture of
Ia Clua (from Dos + Un) and Jordi Batiste (one of the leading forces
of Máquina!), after the later one’s return from military service.
Un Gran Día the duo’s first album, was recorded at
the end of 1972 with the help of such outstanding musicians as Manel
Joseph (ex Dos + Un, Ia’s early band), Joaquín "Max" Suñer
(Vértice, Tapiman, Iceberg a.o. ) & Albert Batiste (Música
Dispersa). The result is an amazing & varied musical tapestry, best
heard in the record’s first side, a long suite covering from orchestral
folk-pop with some psych leanings ("Un Gran Día", "Max") to straight
in-your-face hard rock ("Sleeping Rock") via typical early 70’s prog
("Oliba") and uncathegorisable experiments which defy all known rules
("Reprise"). Sung both in catalan and english, this album is a fine
example of the crazyness and experimentation achieved by the catalan
bands in the early 70’s. A piece of wax which went totally unnoticed
when first released in a tiny pressing back in the days (thus becoming
a big ticket item in the collector’s market).

This amazing LP from 1969 is one of the most beautiful hidden
gems in the field of pop arranged singer-songwriters. Originally issued
on Poppy Records, home of psych heads The Mandrake Memorial among others,
Lightman's deserves to be discovered by all the fans of the soft rock,
orchestra arranged sounds. Think of an american reply to the early works
of Duncan Browne, Bill Fay, Nick Garrie or even Donovan at his most posike
recordings. Fans of the eraly Bee Gees will also enjoy this LP! Credit
for the arrangements and production goes to the great Ron Frangipane and
David Christopher, who is also credited as a co-writer of the albums songs.
The album came housed in a beautiful Milton Glaser sleeve
(Glaser was the main designer at Poppy at that time) which the Wah
Wah reissue respects, and featured an insert with the lyrics which
is also reproduced on our reissue. Housed in quality sleeves and pressed
in 180 gr thick black vinyl for the delight of the most discriminating
audiophiles.

Ton Vlasman recorded this amazing piece of acid euro folk
back in 1970, making it sound like an outter space freaked out Bob
Dylan with the help of Frans Schoonen (organ, flute and harmonica) and
Leo van Vugt (chincha tumba and tambourine). The seven original compositions
are stunning, drug inspired psychedelic pieces of acid folk that mix Dylan
with Indian ragas and even add some Pink Floyd overtones, yet from an acoustic
rather than electric point of view. And the album contains also a very cool
version of The Velvet Underground's "Pale Blue Eyes". If you evered wondered
how would Dylan have sounded covering The V.U., here's a close example! The
album, originally released on the small Flame label from Amsterdam, sold poorly
back in the seventies - thus becoming a collector's piece when it was rediscovered
in the eighties. Since then it has been gathering new fans that pay small
fortunes for a copy, no reissue has been available until now that Wah Wah
offers 500 copies in a lavish edition that will probably sell out soon, so
grab your copy before it's too late!
The beautiful cover art and full color poster insert with
the lyrics are the work of Leendert Le Duc, and both are here faithfully
reproduced as they deserve. The Wah Wah reissue also features an extra
insert with a text by reputed dutch collector Jean Jöbses and a
couple of rare unseen period photos courtesi of the Frans Schoonen and
Leo van Vugt archives.
The album has been carefully remastered by sound wizard Denis
Blackham @ Skye Mastering, making these songs sound like never before.

Wah Wah is proud to offer the two LPs by Baltimore's high
energy hard rock pride Orange Wedge. Having become one of the most
successful live acts in Maryland, Orange Wedge nevertheless didn't get
to sign a contract with a proper label, so in 1974 they decided it was
time to invest some of their money into the self-production of their first
LP. Wedge, the resulting work, shows a highly energetic band performing
their own original compositions direct to your ears. Housed in a plain
blue sleeve with the title stamped on front, 500 copies were pressed,
some to be sent to record companies with the hope of getting a proper
contract and others to be sold at gigs and a few of them at local Maryland
shops. Needles to say they quickly deleted and the record is nowadays
a much sought after treasure among collectors of the hard rock genre.
Here at Wah Wah we have respectfully worked on its reissue
to offer you a killer release in thick cardboard paste-up sleeve with
silver lettering stamping, and featuring an insert with the story
of the band and lots of cool photos gently provided by original Orange
Wedge guitarist and composer Joe Farace.

high energy hard rock de Baltimore Orange Wedge. A pesar de ser la banda

The 1976 follow up to Wedge was "No One Left But Me". Due
to the lack of offers the Orange Wedge also relased their second LP
as a private pressing that was to be sold at gigs and local shops,
and it sold like hot bread making this one an elusive piece among hard
rock collectors. Their sound here is still 100% high energy, though
an evolution has been made and the band sounds a bit more sophisticated.
It was their best selling album at the time with a pressing of 1000
copies that hardly made it out of Baltimore, so here's a very good chance
to rediscover this amazing piece of pure rock power.
Here at Wah Wah we have respectfully worked on its reissue
to offer you a killer release in thick cardboard paste-up sleeve, and
featuring an insert with the story of the band and lots of cool photos
gently provided by original Orange Wedge guitarist and composer Joe

puzzling hypnotic tapestry of sounds by one of the most essential bands

The Inner Space is the stuff of legend. This obscure outfit
is best known as the antecessor band of Can and not much is known
about them except it featured the core members of Can (Irmin Schmidt,
Holger Czukay, Michael Karoli and Jaki Liebezeit) and lasted just a
few months before renaming themselves The Can and releasing Monster Movie.
They left two ultra-obscure seven inches as their only recorded legacy
and only the first of them is credited to The Inner Space, it contained
two songs taken from the soundtrack of 1969's underground film Agilok
& Blubbo. Originally released by the the german Vogue label in 1969,
it currently fetches prices around the 300 euro mark in the collector's
circuit.
Given the obscurity of both the band and it's recorded output,
we're proud to present, for the first time to the public, not only
the aforementioned singles but the complete soundtrack to Peter F.
Scheneider's offbeat political satire Agilok & Blubbo. Previously
unavailable until now, the original mastertapes of this soundtrack have
been stored in the archives of legendary german producer and music publisher
Hans Wewerka who produced the recording sessions back in 1969. Here you
can hear history in the making, the first step of a group of musicians
who'll to achieve fame, success and recognition over the 70's, helping
define a sound (often called kraut rock) that has been highly infuential
to this days. Those familiar with Can's output will recognize some of the
band's characteristic sound, albeit in a embrionary form. Songs like 'Agilok
& Blubbo' or 'Kamera Song' already hint at their later pop brilliance
whereas the short cues and extended free jams found elsewhere in this soundtrack
reminds us from the heterogeneus roots of a bunch of musicians coming from
rock, jazz and avant-garde backgrounds.
All in all, an excellent glimpse into the early stages of
an innovative band developing it's own musical language.
Available both in CD and limited 180 gr. audiophile pressing
vinyl LP, this reissue includes detailed liner notes by Wah Wah's
very own Raül G.Pratginestós and comes illustrated by original
b/w shoots from the movie production. Cd issue contains two bonus tracks:
Memographie, plus Irmin Schmidt's 1967 composition Hexapussy. In all,
over 28 minutes of bonus material!

SHOES - BLACK VINYL SHOES
Here is, reissued in full 180 gr. audiophile glory and faithfull
reproduction of the original album art, one of the biggest examples
of the DIY philosophy in the history of North American music. The Shoes
issued "Black Vinyl Shoes" on their own Black Vinyl Records back in
1977, setting the path so many indie bands have followed since then. The
album is a classic late seventies american power pop blast that drinks
from the works of Big Star, The Byrds, a.o. For our reissue we counted
on the help of the Shoes members, especially Jeff Murphy who provided liners
notes for the lavish 4 page insert that is included. It will also feature
a reproduction of the original round sticker and an ironable transfer to
make yourself a cool Shoes t-shirt! The sound has been remastered from the
original tapes and pressed into quality 180 gr. heavy black vinyl. Limited
to only 500 copies.
"Uno de mis discos favoritos de siempre, y uno de los más
extraños; tanto por la forma en la que fue grabado (pura artesanía
chapuzas, de hacer lo que puedes con los medios de que dispones: puro

pop, la verdad es que Black vinyl shoes es pop sin el power. Pop puro y

Often described as one the oddities in the Ohr catalogue,
Stürmischer Himmel supposed the vinyl debut of Anima, the radical
free-music duo of sculptor Paul Fuchs and her wife Limpe Fuchs. Recorded
at a "thousand year cottage on a windy hill" and opening with ambience
recording of wind and sheeps, the album is an organic collection of improvised
atonal pieces ranging from the atmospheric to the wild with much use
use of screaming, horns, percussions, ambience recordings, wordless
vocals and all kinds of home-made sound devices (Fuchshorn, Fuchszither,
Fuchsbass... ). Pure german counter-culture sounds from the early
70’s...

IBLISS - SUPERNOVA
With several connections to the early Kraftwerk history
and formed in the Rhineland area in 1971, Ibliss was a quintet formed
by percussionist Basil Hammoudi (from Organisation, the band before
Kraftwerk), drummer Andreas Hohmann (also from Kraftwerk), brothers
Wolfgang and Norbert Büllmeyer (bass and guitar respectively)
and Rainer Büchel on sax and flute. With the help of Conny Plank
, they recorded their one and only lp at Hamburg’s Windrose-Studios:
four long instrumental tracks in a hypnotic style that takes cues both

Con diversas conexiones a los inicios de la historia de
Kraftwerk, y formados en el área de Rhineland en 1971, Ibliss
fue un quinteto liderado por el percusionista Basil Hammoudi (miembro
de Organisation, la banda que daría lugar a Kraftwerk) y con
el percusionista Andreas Hohmann (también en Kraftwerk), los
hermanos Wolbgang y Norbert Büññmeyer (bajista y
guitarrista, respectivamente) y Rainer Büchel al saxo y la flauta.
Con la ayuda de Conny Plank grabaron un único LP en los Windrose-Studios
de Hamburgo. 4 largos temas instrumentales en un estilo hipnótico
que une krautrock y sonidos del jazz experimental. Una especie de fusión
cósmica flotante con gran enfásis en la sección rítmica.

El primer LP de Gloria Van Aerssen y Carmen Santoja es probablemente
el disco más raro y buscado en el mercado español de
coleccionismo, y por fín es reeditado en CD con el cuidado que
merece una joya de este calibre. En las doce canciones que componen
su edición original de 1971, Vainica Doble mezclaron folk, soft
rock, pop y unas dosis de psicodelia para crear un mundo mágico
propio con fantásticas letras y espléndidos arreglos musicales
que suena tan fresco y único hoy en día como lo hizo en
1971.
La fantastica y colorida portada pop fue obra de Iván
Zulueta, artista plástico y director de cine (firmó,
por ejemplo, filmes de culto clásicos como "1, 2, 3... Al escondite
inglés!" y "Arrebato"), y aquí es reproducida en toda su
gloria y protegida por una fajita de cartón plastificado que cuenta
con textos de loanza de grandes fans del dúo como Andy Votel
(Finderskeepers/B-Music), Luis Calvo (Elefant Records), Ibon Errazkin,
Ferran Llauradó (Rockdelux) y Ramon Vendrell (El Periódico
de Catalunya). El CD incluye un fantástico libreto de 20 páginas

YES! At last the glorious 1968 LP by The Magic
Mixture gets the proper legit reissue. Originally released on
Saga, this superb piece of psychedelic freakbeat should be in every
record collection sharing section with UK psych gods like July, Skip
Bifferty, Forever Amber, Five Day Week Straw People, The Open Mind
and the likes.
Even though according to The Tapestry Of Delights
book the Saga LPs are supposed to have been recorded at a school
premises rather than in a proper studio, this album has become a
classic of the genre on its own, containing some killer psychedelic
sounds delivered mainly by the guitar of leader Jim Thomas and his
bandmate Stan Curtis' organ riffs. The line up was completed with
Jack Collins on drums and Melvyn Hacker on bass guitar. The songs are
all original Magic Mixture compositions, and they are all excellent
samples of what was going on in the UK when the genres who had been
en vogue during the sixties (modern jazz, folk, R&B, pop...)
were all put into the same cauldron in the search of a special mixture,
eventually obtaining some great pop tunes played with a freakbeat
edge and some early psychedelic sounds, all pretty simple and without
many gimmicks or studio trickery, but amazingly lovely and very cool.
It is one of the most sought after Saga releases
and one that commands high sums when it shows up on eBay. Wah
Wah's is the first ever legit reissue, with best sound quality
and best sleeve quality ever, considering the Saga releases were
all low budget pressed on recycled vinyl!

A pesar que según el libro The Tapestry
Of Delights los LPs de Saga fueron grabados en una escuela tras
las clases en lugar de en un estudio como Dios manda, este LP se

conteniendo fantásticos sonidos psicodélicos, generados
básicamente por la guitarra del líder de la banda

Another collectable from the Saga back catalogue,
issued in 1970 on the Pantonic subsidiary but originally recorded
in Italy, this killer organ instro LP is reissued in vinyl for the
first time. On their debut LP The Underground Set delivered a shot
of groovy organ-ized go-go sounds - the kind of sounds that wouldn't
sound out of place at a late sixties European psychedelic club or
a teen exploito movie, with the perfect mix of psychedelic / progressive
garage attitude and library music dexterity. An album to be filed
along other killers like Blue Phantom or Ugly Custard. But also the
kind of sounds that would inspire later artists such as Graham Day when
he formed The Prisoners. The Underground Set was also committed to record
the soundtrack theme for a couple of Italian TV shows, and later recorded
a second album which followed the same line but with a heavier progressive
edge.
Lovers of mad organs and swirling fuzz psychedelic
guitars will have hours of enjoyment with the purchase of this
delicatessen that has, again, been mastered from the original tapes
and housed in a quality sleeve. Best quality ever plus two bonus
tracks : the Saga LPs were really low budget pressings, so they tended
to be of poor quality and usually done on recycled vinyl. Better than
the real thing, but only available for a limited time : these 500 copies
only will be gone soon!

The Underground Set fueron también los encargados de grabar
la sintonía para algunos programas de la televisión italiana,
y más tarde editarían un segundo LP que sigue la línea
iniciada con éste pero con un sonido más "heavy" y progresivo.
Los amantes del sonido de órgano y de las
chispeantes guitarras psicodélicas con fuzz encontrarán
horas de disfrute con la compra de esta delícia reeditada
a partir de los másters originales y presentada en portada
de calidad más dos bonus tracks. Mejor calidad que nunca,
de hecho : los LPs de Saga eran realmente editados con muy bajo presupuesto,
a menudo los prensajes eran bastante malos y se realizaban en vinilo
reciclado. Sin duda mejor que el original, pero solamente disponible

Here we unearth a missing nugget! Very little is
known of The 4 Instants. They do not even appear on the Tapestry
Of Delights (a.k.a. the Holy Bible of UK beat/R&B/psych/prog...).
Undoubtedly released as a teen exploitation album in 1966 by
Saga on the Society subsidiary, the LP offers a tight mod R&B
instrumental sound all through it, with killer Hammond organ and
sensational guitar licks. Everyone into all night mod jazz / R&B
partying shall consider this LP a classic on its own from now on!
Think of Graham Bond Organisation, Dave Davani Four, The Mohawks or
any of those great mod jazz / soul jazz LPs that were imported from the
US in the era and you'll get a close idea of what this album sounds like.
Mostly offering killer versions of hits of the day ("Watermelon Man",
"Mashed Potatoes", "Monkey Time"...) there is also one top sounding
cover of the classic Ellington tune "Caravan" and three fantastic tunes
written by the band, the credits of which give us the clue of the musicians
involved, drummer Clem Cattini being one of them - thus throwing connections
to other greats of the genre such as The Mohawks or Ugly Custard, and
giving an idea of how TIGHT this band sounds, since Cattini (who had
preeviously been in The Tornados and recorded under the direction of
Joe Meek) was one of the more in demand session drummers and his work
can be heard in many of the number one hits of the sixties and seventies.

This obscure jewell seems to be still completely
unknown even among those into the coolest of the cool, maybe
due to the non too well chosen original sleeve, to which our design

el fenómeno adolescente del momento en 1966 por el subsello Society,
el LP ofrece una contundente demostración de lo que puede llegar
a ser el sonido mod R&B a nivel instrumental cuando se une un potente
Hammond con un fabuloso trabajo de guitarra. Todos aquellos que disfruten
de las allnighters de mod jazz y R&B considerarán este
LP un clásico del género desde el momento en que dejen
caer la aguja en su surco. Piensa en Graham Bond Organisation, Dave

Thought from the beginning as a cash-in operation
when hard rock began to spread throughout the UK, this LP features
a very young band (keyboardist Jon Stoppard was 16 when this LP
was released in 1973) performing the sounds of the day. Equinox consisted
of Mick Shedd on vocals and guitar, Sid Oldfield on bass, Jon Stoppard
playing organ and Terry Waldon as the drummer. Incidentally they
are not the ones who appear on the sleeve, where they were replaced
by some unknown hipsters, and knowing Boulevard and it's mother label
Saga it was probably a stock photo rather than a proper session paid
for the occasion.
The album sounds move through the early UK hardrock
paths opened by bands such as Deep Purple, Black Sabbath or Led
Zeppelin, and although it must be said that our youngsters can't
match the playing skills of the bands they mirrored in, it's justice
to state "Hard Rock" as a more than decent effort, and a true rarity
even for the conoisseurs of the genre.
Issued from the original master tapes and featuring
the original sleeve in better quality than the low budget Boulevard
original, this is a perfect chance to add the Equinox to your collection.

duda como una operación para generar dinero aprovechando
el auge del fenómeno hard rock en UK, Equinox era una banda
muy joven (el teclista Jon Stoppard contaba con tan sólo
16 primaveras cuando el disco fue lanzado en 1973) cuyos miembros
eran Mick Shedd a la voz y guitarra, Sid Oldfield al bajo, el citado
Stoppard al órgano y Terry Waldon como batería. Quienes
no son, por cierto, los que aparecen en la portada, en cuya foto fueron
reemplazados por modelos desconocidos... Y conociendo la forma de actuar
de Boulevard y su sello madre Saga, probablemente incluso fuera una foto
tomada de un catálogo fotográfico y no una sesión
fotográfica propiamente dicha (y pagada).
Los sonidos del álbum se mueven por los
caminos del hard rock primerizo de bandas como Deep Purple, Black
Sabbath o Led Zeppelin, y aunque debemos reconocer que nuestros
jóvenes amigos no llegan al nivel de destreza de aquellos
en quienes se inspiraron sí lograron sin embargo grabar
un interesante disco que complacerá a los fans del género.
Editado a partir de las cintas originales y con
mejor calidad de portada que el original de Boulevard de serie
"budget", es la ocasión perfecta para añadir a los

Often described as one the oddities in the Ohr catalogue,
Stürmischer Himmel supposed the vinyl debut of Anima, the
radical free-music duo of sculptor Paul Fuchs and her wife Limpe
Fuchs. Recorded at a "thousand year cottage on a windy hill" and
opening with ambience recording of wind and sheeps, the album is an
organic collection of improvised atonal pieces ranging from the atmospheric
to the wild with much use use of screaming, horns, percussions, ambience
recordings, wordless vocals and all kinds of home-made sound devices
(Fuchshorn, Fuchszither, Fuchsbass... ). Pure german counter-culture
sounds from the early 70’s...

One of the most interesting and unknown bands from
the Ohr catalogue, Annexus Quam had actually a quite long career,
having their roots in the outfit Ambition Of Music, formed back
in 1967 Kamp-Lintfort (near Düsseldorf). By 1970, and paying
tribute to their early name, they had incorporated a whole
array of influences (most important one, the inclusion of jazz instrumentation)
and brewed them in what was becoming a very personal progressive
fusion of styles, best witnessed in their their debut album: Osmose.
At that time, the band had grown into a septet formed by Uwe Bick (drums,
vocals, percussion), Jürgen Jonuschies (bass, vocals, percussion),
Werner Hostermann (clarinet, organ, vocals, percussion), Peter Werner
(guitar, vocals, percussion), Hans Kámper (trombone, spanish
guitar, vocals, percussion), Ove Volquartz (sax) and Harald Klemm (flute,
vocals, percussion). Far from a typical jazz sound, they were able to
integrate rock and jazz instrumentation into a unique style, which borrowed
elements from the aforementioned genres but blended those into an ultimate
cosmic fusion (which can recall at times the Third Ear Band, Xhol Caravan
or even Ash Ra Tempel yet remaining totally their own). Actually, Annexus
Quam were able to sound meditative, doomy, stoned, aggressive, exotic
and lyrical in the same track without loosing any musical coherence or
perspective. With their personal style that even today defies categorisation
(except for that big umbrella we call kraut rock),Annexus Quam had all
the inventiveness and excitement of the 1969/1970 german bands.
Osmose: a most unique album by an equally unique
band, housed in one of the most luxurious, ellaborated and tripped-out
gimmix covers ever made, now reproduced in all it’s multi-folding
glory.

Mani, Ax and Uli do it again: Hinten was Guru Gurur's
second album for Ohr, the follow up to their crazed UFO lp. Recorded
in July 1971 at Star Studios (Hamburg) with the help of Konrad Plank,
Hinten saw Guru Guru moving away from their trademark freeform

by young multi-instrumentalist Stephan Kaske in 1969, Mythos
were Berlin’s finest space rockers, able to swim and dive between
raging space-treks a la Hawkwind and blissed-out cosmic drifts in
the style of their stable-mates Ash Ra Temple or Tangerine Dream.
Their legendary debut album showed them in top-form, specially in
the long suite "Encyclopaedia Terrae" were they showcase their playing
abilities and unique style via the extended instrumental passages.
Somewhere else in the album, Kaske surprises us with his flute playing
or his caracteristical vocals (a bit in the style of VdGG’s Peter

Overshadowed by their more experimental and cosmic
labelmates, Walpurgis made probably one of the most overlooked
items of the Ohr catalogue... This quintet from Berlin formed by
Ryszard Kalemba (guitar), Jerzy Sokolowski (guitar, vocals), George
Früchtenicht (bass), Jan Sundermeyer (congas, flute) and Manfred
Stadelmann (drums, vocals) were helped by the ubiquitous Jürgen
Dollase (Wallenstein) on keyboards for the recording sessions of
their one and only one album which taking place between May and June
1972 in Dieter Dierks Studio in Stommeln. Obviously inspired by the US
West Coast sound but also echoing the more cosmic tendencies of the berlin
scene, Walpurgis played a dreamy yet solid space-rock style which recall
some of their contemporanies like Wallenstein, Ash Ra Tempel or Agitation
Free whilst paying tribute to their american inspirations (Quicksilver
Messenger Band, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane) at the same time. Actually,
Walpurgis just made those influences more evident as the West Coast sound
had a huge impact in shaping the Berlin bands sound, with many a city’s
guitar player in debt with John Cippollina's guitar techniques (from
Ash Ra Tempel's Manuel Gotsching to Curly Curve's Alex Conti).

Another unsung bunch of krautrock pioneers, Limbus
had formed in Heidelberg in 1968. Comprising the trio of Odysseus
Artnerm, Bernd Henniger and Gerd Kraus, in 1969 recorded the
groundbreaking New Atlantis LP (subtitling it "Cosmic Music Experience")
for CPM, a spaced-out concoction of free and psychedelic musics with
strong folky and ethnical flavours sounding very much like a more ethnic
take on free improvisation. In 1970 they become a quartet with the addition
of Matthias Kniepper thus renaming themselves Limbus 4 and went to record
the puzzling Mandalas lp, a further step in their cosmic ethnic improvisations,
this time making use of a more varied instrumental palette and taking
advantage of the possibilities of the recording studio. A unique
album that ranks amongst the most adventurous ever released by Ohr
and which, to make things even better, spots another of those
cool Reinhard Hippen covers designs made of doll parts (which graced
the covers of the first five of the the label's albums.. this being actually
the second ever Ohr release). You don't get them much trippier than this...

Heidelberg en 1968. Originalmente en formación de trio con

CPM, una conjunción espacial de musicas libres y psicodélicas
con fuertes raíces folk y savores étnicos. En 1970 pasaron

The misteriously named Xhol had already some years
of experience on their back when krautrock made it's first impact.
Having it's roots in the late 60's rock & soul outfit Soul Caravan
they eventually renamed themsleves Xhol Caravan and released the
crucial Electrip album on Hansa, one of the first efforts in bridging
psychedelic, jazz and psychedelic styles in a really original way. Shortening
their name to Xhol, they signed to the hip Ohr label where they released
the live album Hau-Rauk and the mysterous archival Motherfuckers
GmbH & Co Kg. Conceived as a varied collage of archive pieces, sound
snippets and free extended jams, the album hints at the madness of Faust
but reatining that freaky Xhol attitude. From the archetypical Radio,
just some dial knob turning with takes us from the Soul Caravan days,
to the cosmically tripped-out Orgelsolo and the chirps and flute exotism
of Grille, this album shows Xhol's more experimental side without forgetting
their powerful fusion as hints of jazz, brass rock, soul and other grooves
collide on the extended 13-minute Love Potion 25. An enduring testament
to the talents of a band which went unrecognized too many years and which
was one of the best and more inventive of the first wave of kraut rock
bands...

After the release of their debut album Osmose and
much playing in jazz festivals, Annexus Quam fronted some personnel
changes and settled down to a quintet. The band was now Hans Kämper
(trombone, spanish guitar, flute), Harald Klemm (zither,
tabla, bendira, guitar), Peter Werner (guitar, percussion), Ove
Volquartz (tenor/soprano saxes, flute) plus newcomer Martin Habenicht
(basses). This reduced formation went to record Beziehungen, a much
more jazzy effort which headed straight into free jazz territory but
retaining the typical inventive touch of the band. Much more space
was given to free improvisation, with tracks like the two-part "Leyenburg"
coming out as free-form music whereas the 16-minute long track "Dreh
Ducht Nicht Um" bridged the gap between their two albums by combining
the progressive fusion sonorities of Osmose with some brilliant free
jamming. A classic album that is recommended to the lovers of the experimental
leg of krautrock and progressive musics as well as fans of all things
free...

Recorded in 1971, Amon Düül’s only album
for Ohr was a visonary slice of acid-folk which has gained cult
status as years passed by. Ritualistic folk-rock, pastoral
hippie songs, stoned jams, eastern flavours, mystical passages and
heavy hypnotic riffing which are in fact very different from the early
Amon Düül epic freaked-out improvisations (Psychedelic Underground)
or Amon Düül II complex and psyched-up progressive works
(Phallus Dei).
These were in fact archival recordings done by a
different incarnation of Amon Duul, one that combined members
of both factions into a floating line up welcoming many a guest,
and which were released by R.U. Kaiser without the musicians knowledge
or authorisation, most likely in order to catch up with Amon Düül
II rising popularity.
All in all, a mythical recording featuring such
underground classics as “Love Is Peace”; “Snow Your Thurst Sun
Open Your Mouth” and “Paramechanische Welt”. Included also on
our edition is their sought after Ohr single: “Paramechanical
World” / “Eternal Flow”. Another legendary title from the Ohr catalogue

From the hidden depths of the eastern Mediterranean,
down in the Capadocian mistery lands, comes Bulent Ortaçgil,
one of national musical treasures of Turkey, but one that to Western
ears remains unheard. To this day.
Ortaçgil, or Bülent, which became his artistic
name in his beginnings, during the much loved and never forgotten
sixties, made a name to himself on the same scene as Fikret Kizilok,
who has now made some waves since his inclusion on Damon and Naomi's
compilation "International Sad Hits". But Bülent's music, much
as it was of its time, was not at all sad, even though it also came from
the heart. And what a heart. It could be said that his voice was indeed
as sweet as that of the Golden Horn, and that his music united two continents
as much as the Galata Bridge united two parts of Istanbul. For Bülent's
music was deeply Turkish but assimilated the folk flavours of the day,
British or American, but the most gentle and perfumed ones. Want names?

The beautiful debut album by Steve Tilston was originally
released by The Village Thing in 1971. Housed in a beautiful sleeve
it contained ten wonderful songs, mostly played on just acoustic
guitar (plus voice, of course), which showed the great talent of a
young Tilston that must have been listening to a lot of stuff by Bert
Jansch, Nick Drake, Donovan, Wizz Jones or Davy Graham. Occasionally he
is also accompained by Dave Evans (guitar & vocals), Keith Warmington
(harmonica & vocal), John Turner (string bass) and Pete Finch (violin).
The ten songs on the album are original compositions
written by Tilston himself, and the Wah Wah LP will feature two
extra bonus tracks from 1978, previously unreleased on vinyl format,
plus an insert with the lyrics.

fue editado originalmente por The Village Thing en 1971. Envuelto
en una preciosa portada, contenía 10 canciones maravillosas,
principalmente tocadas únicamente a la acústica (más
voz, evidentemente), que mostraban ya el gran talento de un joven
Tilston que en su momento debió escuchar mucho a Bert Jansch,
Nick Drake, Donovan, Wizz Jones o Davy Graham. Ocasionalmente es

The second of our reissues from The Village Thing catalogue
is this wonderful 1972 LP by the talented duo Ian Hunt and John
Turner. Hunt & Turner got together in the summer of 1970, after
having worked as some of the most in demand session musicians of the
West Country's. Turner was an acomplished string bass player, while
Hunt was already a big name on the Bristol scene, playing great guitar
and writing songs. They moved around Bristol's Troubadour Club, which
Turner had run for several years, and as once the duo was arranged they
expanded their art around the UK and Europe. With this LP they gathered
a small amount of success, reaching #6 in the Melody Maker folk charts.
More fabulous folk sounds plenty of crystalline acoustic
guitars and delicious vocals, at times reminiscing of CSN&Y
and relatives. Hunt & Turner, who -besides their fab vocal
duties- already play acoustic & electric guitars, electric
and string bass and bongos, are ocasionally augmented by John Merritt
on bass guitar and Rod Matthews on percussion.

Turner, reunido a finales del verano de 1970, tras haber trabajado
ambos componentes por su cuenta como músicos de sesion en

hecho ya un nombre en la escena de Bristol como guitarrista y autor
de canciones. Se movían por el Troubadour Club de Bristol, y una

Another acid folk delicatessen from The Village Thing
catalogue, The Sun Also Rises was recorded by Graham Hemingway (vocals,
guitar) and Anne Hemingway (vocals, dulcimer, glockenspiel, vibes,
percussion). They were occasionally joined by John Turner (string
bass, finger-picked & with a bow) and Andy Legget (whistle on
one of the songs). It features an amazing tapestry of acid folk sounds
with great male/female vocal harmonies. On the sources of this record
you will hear echoes of The Incredible String Band, Comus, C.O.B or Tir
Na Nog, but of course delivered with the own personality of this Cardiff
duo, very hippie sounding with a very trippy athmosphere. It is really
a delicatessen for your ears!
The album was originally released in 1970, and our
reissue will include one bonus track not on the original release,
taken from a 1972 Village Thing sampler. Comes in beautifully reproduced
artwork in nice matt finish. Not only a top listener, but also a

Probably one of the weirdest discoveries in the field
of collectable german albums in recent years, Staff Carpenborg’s
sole output was first brought to the spotlight by the compilers of
the celebrated "Kraut! Demons! Kraut!" cd-series in the mid-90’s.
Since then rumours and interest about the album have risen exponentially
since this is weird record (and we mean WEIRD) is one of the earliest
known examples of kraut-rock. How such a demented collection of tunes
found their way on the budget Maritim label is up to everyone’s guess,
specially if one takes into account the label typical output of schlager,
mariachi songs, children tales and similar all-ages budget shmaltz.
This may be also the reason why "Fantastic Party" went under the radar
for so many diggers and record collectors as little they expect such
crazyness would hide in the grooves on this otherwise crappy-looking
album.
No one knows who was behind this weird studio project
except a certain Paul Bucher credited on the record as the composer
of all tracks. Anyway what this anonymous bunch of musicians left
behind was a puzzling set of psychedelic jams choked with an overdose
of effects which can be easily labelled as proto-kraut. Like the bastard
son of Can (or better, The Inner Space) scoring a weird sexadelic euro
flick, this is the missing link connecting a whole string of renegade,
leftfield german music, from The Vampires of Dartmoore to Amon Duul,
that is, from psych-explotation experiments to bona fide kraut-rock.
So open your ears to the sounds of the strangest and
most fantastic party you’re ever to attend with our reissue of
this obscure artifact brought back to life for your aural delight.

Probablemente uno de los más insólitos
descubrimientos en el campo del coleccionismo de LPs alemanes de
años recientes, el único álbum de Staff Carpenborg
fue reivindicado por las series de CDs recopilatorios "Kraut! Demons!
Kraut!" a mediados de los 90. Desde entonces, los rumores acerca del
LP y el interés por el mismo no han dejado de crecer, pues este
insólito (realmente: INSÓLITO) fue uno de los más
tempranos exponentes de lo que se conocería por kraut-rock.
Cómo tal alocada collección de canciones llegó
al catálogo del sello Maritim queda a la imaginación de
cada cual, teniendo en cuenta el típico repertorio de canción
ligera, mariachis, cuentos infantiles, etc. en cuya edición
estaba especializado el sello. Puede que por esta razón "Fantastic
Party" escapara al radar de tantos y tantos buscadores de rarezas y colleccionistas,
evidentemente no esperaban de Maritim un disco de sonido tan bizarro
como el que hoy es objeto de flamante reedición.
Se desconoce quien estaba detrás de este insólito
proyecto de estudio, únicamente tenemos el nombre de un tal
Paul Bucher como autor de las canciones. En cualquier caso, este puñado
de músicos anónimos nos ha legado este puzzle crreado
a base de jams psicodélicas salteadas con una sobredósis
de efectos que pueden fácilmente etiquetarse de "proto-kraut".
Un hijo bastardo de Can (o mejor aún, de The Inner Space) grabando
sonido sexadélicos que se alza como el eslabón perdido
en la evolución hacia la ristra de bizarros músicos alemanes
que van de los Vampires of Dartmoore hasta Amon Düül... O
sea, desde experimentos de exploito´-psych, hasta monstruos del
kraut rock.

refined and complex work which included such remarkable guests as Bröselmaschine’s

mystic Sergius Golowin, this record can be considered actually as
the starter of the Cosmic Jokers saga as it got together for the first
time Wallenstein, Witthüsser & Westrupp, Klaus Schulze and
the enigmatic Jörg Mierke into some sort cosmic allstar-band. An
enchanting album where musicians back Golowin’s spoken-word ramblings

Second chapter on the Bröselmaschine saga after
a four-year hyatus.. The band's second incarnation came to life
in 1975, when Peter Bursch reformed the group together with old
member Willi Kissmer and new recruit Klaus Dapper (flute, sax, tuba).
Helped by such honorable guests as Mani Neumeier and Roland Schaeffer
(from Guru Guru) or Jan Fride from Kraan their 1976 album was a solid
session of progressive folk, very different than it's predecessor but
also with an atypically hypnotic and haunting quality. Long jams, ranging
from the relaxed to the energetic, extended instrumental parts, nice
flute and sax touches, sparse vocals. A totally underrated gem waiting
to be rediscovered. Top progressive kraut-folk sounds!!!

"Saat", pero anteriormente el dúo formado por Maik Hirschfelt
y Dolly Holmes había editado este maravilloso LP. Este
soberbio debut viene cargado de encantadores sonidos folk. Guitarras
acústicas de 6, 7 y 12 cuerdas y preciosos arreglos de flauta
arropan las voces masculina y femenina del dúo formado por
Hirschfeldt y su socia, canadiense de origen, Holmes, y hacen de este
álbum un placer para el oyente, una interesante pieza para el
coleccionista y una fuente de inspiración para los jóvenes
músicos de la escena neo-folk actual. Sí, a parte de los
seguidores de la escena kraut-rock, este disco hara las delicias de

Cantado en inglés, las canciones fueron grabadas

an agreement for the reissue in vinyl format of the glorious
second LP by this killer Spanish hard prog psychedelic band
!!!
INTENCIÓN, the sensational second
LP recorded by Atila, has never fetched the high amounts their
debut album THE BEGINNING OF THE END (Wah Wah LPS022) does exchange
hands for in the collectors' market, but it is still a mega rare LP
hardly seen below the 400 euros tag, and is considered by many to
be better than their previous output. At the time of recording this
album, the band was already considered one of the top stage acts from
Spain, which led to their signing for the BASF label, where they were allowed
to a better production which not only resulted in a better sound but also
in a much more visually attractive full colour gatefold sleeve, which
the Wah Wah reissue will reproduce to perfection. Originally issued
in 1976, INTENCIÓN is the perfect follow-up to THE BEGINNING
OF THE END, with the band offering further pieces led by the strong guitar
licks by Eduardo Niebla, Benet Nogué's organ & Moog, and
Joan Punyet's drums melting in top progressive freakouts, plus the addition
of wordless vocal parts, adding a symphonic edge to the general sound.
Side A offers three killer tracks in that vein, while B side is a new
recording of the bands' signature theme EL PRINCIPIO DEL FIN, with updated
overtones, Moog passages and a much better recorded sound than the one
appearing on their debut LP.
The Wah Wah release will be housed in a
full colour gatefold sleeve reproduction of the original issue
and with magically remastered sound from the original master

The Storm hailed from
Sevilla and were acclaimed by audiences and press

Ora LP was also issued in the German Metronome label as

Ora LP as it was first issued back in 1969, while record 2 is made
up of previously unreleased in vinyl format top quality material
by the band and will include tracks never issued before in any format
that original band member James Rubinstein had in his personal archive.

Jamie Rubinstein, 18, leader,
lead vocalist and guitarist with the group called ORA,
wrote all the songs on their new LP. He arranged most of them.
While making the album Jamie was studing for his GCE A Levels.
This is the group's first release, a single is being planned.
Jamie and Robin Sylvester, 18,
who plays bass guitar, piano, organ, and is co-arranger,
are the main-stays of the four-piece group. The others,
lead guitarist Jon Weiss and drummer Julian Diggle, are "floating"
members. Jamie, Robin, and Julian had met at UCS (University
College School) in Hampstead.
The Wah Wah edition will be housed
in a gatefold sleeve that will respect the original artwork
concept, graphically adapted to this new issue following
the directions of Ora leader James Rubinstein. James himself
signs the inner notes so you get an accurate first person told
history of the band who would later become the legendary progressive

/ popsike masterpiece by Nick Garrie-Hamilton is reissued

France-only release in 1969. A perfect chance to get your

A musical delicatessen by this
great Russian/Scotish, French raised singer songwriter.
This LP first came out in France in 1969, under the production
of Eddie Vartan, who managed to embody Nick's perfect songs
into an orchestration with several common points to that in other
great albums from the era coming from the UK (think of Billy Nichols,
Duncan Browne, Bill Fay...). Soon after the record came out, the
AZ's label owner commited suicide, the label resting orphan and thus
the release being unpromoted & undistributed sank in the dust
of time. One of its songs, "Wheel Of Fortune", was rescued back in the
Strange Things Are Happening days for its inclusion on a volume of the
legendary "Circus Days" compilations. Nick kept on releasing albums,
The "Suitcase Man" LP came in Spain in the eighties, and two more records
have been issued since then, "The Playing Fields" and "Twelve Old Songs",
but interest for his debut LP has grown in recent years among collectors
over the globe, an original copy fetching amounts moving between 600
and 1000 euros. We do believe this album is so good that it shouldn't be
reserved only to the few who can afford those numbers, so here is a perfect
vinyl reissue for the mere mortals like you and me!

of the fertile hippie scene which flourished in the Baleric
islands during the seventies.
Known to record collectors

band formed in the island of Mallorca in the mid 70’s recorded

Often hailed as one the hard
psych masterpieces to come out from Spain in the early
70’s, "The Beginning Of The End" was the vinyl debut of Atila,
a trio formed in 1973 by Eduardo Niebla -guitar- Joan Punyet
-drums- y Francisco Ortega –keyboards-. Originally released in
1975 by the obscure New Promotions label in a alledged tiny pressing
of 100 copies the album has reached "monster" status between
die-hard collectors worldwide, sometimes reaching the 1500€
tag.
An incredible progressive
tour de force, the album combined the typical classical

in various types of palingenesis, famed talmudists and other
studious of witchery agree to the importance of music in the
old akelarres. Having been burnt some of our witches by the roman
Inquisition, the others seeked for shelter in their subterranean homes.
A fantastic world was formed then. Basque
witches and sorcerers prosecuted by Pierre de Lancre, alied
with an old jewish gnome -who claimed to be a cousin of Spinoza-
did invoke the underground spirits of black fugitive slaves who
escaped from the razzias that our European ancestors, in the name

Weird and obscure as they come... in
1972 arranger William S. Fischer lands in the basque country
and produces some funky reinterprations of popular basque folklore
songs and dances, all around the theme of witchery and covens
(Akelarre). As crazy and weird as it may sound, this record is virtually
unheard of in collector’s circles.
How the musical director for Atlantic
Records and arranger for Wilson Pickett, Roberta Flack,
Eugene McDaniels, Les McCann , Herbie Mann and countless others
got involved with this project is up to everyone’s guess. However
what he comes up with is really astounding, a funky as hell workout
which will get you screaming for more. Killer go go psychedelic
soul which defies categorisation: tight rhythm section, open
drum breaks, funky as hell guitar leads, groovy flute, weird electronic
sound effects and moog bits (most likely courtesy of Walter E. Sear,
who gets a mention in the original liners) alternate with more stylish
moments (think Terry Callier or blaxpotation soundtracks of the era
like Marvin Gaye's Troubleman) and even some fusion styled groovers.
Fans of his funky jazz rock cum electronics
masterpiece "Circles" (released by Embryo in 1970 and feaured
on Mojo’s "50 Most Out There Albums of All Time" list) won’t
be deceived, for he shows here the same masterful sense of groove
and orchestration but in a more danceable, not so avant-garde context.
An unknown record that deserves to be brought back to life in this
limited reissue of 500 (five-hundred) copies. Get it now or cry

The first album by this
mythical andalusian multi-instrumentist, member of
the legendary Smash, recorded in 1971 in Barcelona (another
nice example of the fertile conection between the scenes
in Seville and Barcelona at the beginning of the seventies),
it remained unreleased until 1978 (when it appeared as one-part
of the double lp "El Nacimiento Del Rock En Andalucía").
Rescued by Wah Wah thirty years after, the album shows Gualberto
in a phase of creative definition, half-way Smash’s powerful
sound and unique mix of psych & folk with some oriental
touch (Gualberto’s ubiquitous sitar and Jessica’s characteristic
vocals) which will became his trademark in forthcoming lp’s. ("A La

Key duo from the catalan
folk scene, result of the union between Ia Clua (from
"2+1") and Jordi Batiste (one of the leading forces of Máquina!
together with Enric Herrera), after the later one’s return
from military service.
"Un Gran Día".the duo’s first
album, was recorded at the end of 1972 with the help
of such outstanding musicians as Manel Joseph (ex "2+1", Ia’s
early band)), Joaquín "Max" Suñer (Vértice,
Tapimán, Iceberg y a neverding etc ) & Albert
Batiste (Musica Dispersa).
The result is an amazing
& varied musical tapestry, best heard in the
record’s first side, a long suite covering from orchestral
folk-pop with some psych leanings ("Un Gran Día",
"Max") to straight in-your-face hard rock ("Sleeping Rock")
via typical early 70’s prog rock ("Oliba") or uncathegorisable
experiments which defy all rules ("Reprise") and show
perfectly the freaky stage reached by the catalan scene in it’s
early years (as a matter of fact, the record is sung in english
and catalan...).
A piece of wax which went totally
unnoticed when first released in a tiny pressing back
in the days (thus becoming a big ticket item in the collector’s
market) and which Wah Wah rescues from oblivion thirty years
after it’s original release.
An excellent work which
deserves to be discovered by a wider public...

The Storm hailed from Sevilla
and were acclaimed by audiences and press reviewers as
one of the best rock bands from Spain. The combo was formed
by the Ruiz Geniz brothers (Angel and Diego, on guitar and drums
respectively) plus Luis Genil (organ) and José Torres
(bass).
Their debut album, originally
released on Basf in 1974, is one of the Crown jewells
of Spanish hard rock, and changes hands for a small fortune
among collectors all over the world, especially since its
inclusion in Hans Pokora's 'Record Dreams' books.
This LP really rocks. It's
high energy hard rock that follows the line marked by
the big organ outfits of the era: Deep Purple, Atomic Rooster,

market, the first album by Gloria Van Aerssen & Carmen
Santonja is at last reissued as it deserves. On the twelve
songs they wrote for their debut album, originally released
on Ópalo in 1971, Vainica Doble blended folk, soft
rock, pop and a dose of psychedelia. The fantastic, colourful
cover was designed by Ivan Zulueta, artist and film director (he
was the mastermind behind the cult movies "1, 2, 3... Al escondite
inglés!" and "Arrebato"), and is reproduced here in

Musica Dispersa featured the talent of threeof the most significant
musicians from the catalonian underground movement of the late

hippie girl Selene. The album's title describes the sounds contained
in the most precise way possible, but for those who need some extra
lines to get into the groove it we must state that we face a masterpiece
of melodic tunesthat pay a certain tribute to the English folk movement
of the era, as theydo to the early Amon Duül's freak out sound
concept. Echoes of TheIncredible String Band are present mainly in

fame) and percussion, harmonica,organ, mouth harp, piano and wordless
vocals are heard all through the album,as is Selene's flute work. All

'Groovy Woovy'
Los Buenos were the first spanish
supergroup. They gathered together in 1968 and their line-up
featured members from important spanish beat/soul bands such
as Julián Granados (formerly a singer with Los Ángeles
Azules and Los Brisk), Iñaki Egaña (from Los Tañidores)
or Moreno Gómez (former drummer with Los Brujos). They were
joined by Johnny Galvao from the portuguese band Os Duques and
by keyboardist Rod Mayall, who was John Mayall's brother. Their skills
and the songsbrother John discovered them by sending the newly released
versions onthe English market before they were released in Spain,
combined withtheir efficient songwriting resulted in four successful
singles that arenow collected on this album, completed with a beautiful
colored pop sleeveand liner notes.
An album of great interest for
the mod crowd since it featuresthe mod scene hit "Groovy
Woovy
", a single that has been recently sold
in Ebay for more than US$ 150! Other big hits of the mod clubs
